Description of hotel: Smögens Hafvsbad in Bohuslän Archipelago

When bathing guests arrived at the hotel at the beginning of the last century, they saw the same beautiful hotel that you see today. When you walk into the listed entrance, you are greeted with one of the most spectacular hotels in Sweden, which is partly carved into the rock. There are 70 hotel rooms and three suites in two hotel buildings. It has a full spa with a wide range of treatments. There are special occasions when children are allowed in the spa centre, but they must always be accompanied by a parent or guardian. At all other times you have to be at least 18 years old to use the spa by yourself, and 15 years old if accompanied by a parent or guardian. It is normally during school holidays when children are given the opportunity to visit the spa. A large conference centre and an à la carte restaurant that specialises in delicious food from the sea. Welcome to the sea, the rocks and the hotel! There is so much to do and see in Smögen, no matter what time of year you decide to visit. In the summer most people come here for the sea and to go swimming. All of the small shops on the Smögen pier are open, so you can browse to your heart's content. Did you know that the pier, which is approximately 1 kilometre long, is the second most visited tourist destination in West Sweden after Liseberg amusement park? The country's second biggest fish auction is held on Smögen. This is where the fishing boats come in, bringing their catches of fresh fish and shellfish, which you can then buy in the fishmonger's around the corner. You can try some incredibly tasty fresh Smögen prawns, which you can eat with some famous Grebbestads Tångknäcke bread sticks! In the winter you can enjoy the peace and quiet, while admiring the beautiful view. You could combine this with a visit to the spa. In September it is the lobster season. The Swedish malt whisky Mackmyra is stored in the rocks in Smögen.
