Description of hotel: HOTEL PHILOXENIA in Corfu

The Hotel Philoxenia (3 stars) There are 50 spacious newly built rooms each with a modern en-suite bathroom. The reception is open 24 hours and room service is provided. All the rooms face the beach and are fully equipped with telephone, refrigerator and safe deposit boxes. Each room also has a large balcony from which the most beautiful sunsets may be enjoyed. There is also spacious secure parking available for guest's cars. There are two swimming pools, one of which within the independent areas and levels is especially for children. Lounge chairs and umbrellas are provided in the pool areas free of charge. Regular "Greek" nights with folk and traditional dancing are held in the pool area and once a week a barbeque is organized for guests with a selection of appetizers. There is a comfortable restaurant and two bars, at the pool bar you can enjoy cocktails whilst listening to international and Greek music. For youngsters there is a play room where they can have hours of pleasant fun. A babysitting service is also available. The beach is only 100 meters from the hotel and there guests can enjoy diving, water skiing, beach volley and canoeing. Only 1km from the hotel is a famous golf club where both European and International Championships are held. It is located on the northwest coast of Corfu only 14km from Corfu Town and the port and airport. Ermones with its small gulf surrounded by high and steep rocks, is one of the most spectacular sceneries of the island. The wilderness of the scenery as well as the mythology, according to which it was on Ermones beach that princess Nausicaa (daughter of Alkinoos) found Odysseus/Ulysses, are the main attractions for visitors. There is in fact a great resemblance between Homer’s description and reality. In addition, another legend is closely related with the beach of Ermones, according to which one of the rocks that surrounds the gulf is a petrified pirate who tried to steal the image of the Holy Virgin. As one of the rocks has the shape of a human body, and as most pirates of those times were Saracenes/Muslims, it still is called “o Tourkos/the Turk”. The Philoxenia Hotel is consisted of fifty rooms fully redecorated. The rooms are single-bed, twin-bedded and three person’s rooms. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning system [cooling-heating], external phone line, bathrooms with shower or bath-tub, safe, satellite TV, music channels and refrigerator. All rooms have a wonderful sea view. You can also relax from your balcony having your drink and enjoying the sunset dipping into the boundless blue sea.
